Route 2: same-day via Lombok airport

Cross to Bangsal early, drive the 1.5–2 hours to Lombok International Airport, and fly to Labuan Bajo. Route 3: via Bali

Counter-intuitive but often smoothest: fast boat west to Bali, then the short Denpasar–Labuan Bajo flight, which runs far more frequently than the Lombok leg. If your Gili stay was the middle of a Bali-based itinerary anyway, this is usually the least fragile chain of connections — and an overnight in Bali de-risks the whole thing.
