What Do Komodo Boat Trips Cost in 2027 Peak Season (July–August and New Year)?

Lamborajo publishes one flat charter card for the 2026–2027 season with no seasonal surcharge built into it: from USD 3,400 for Lamborajo I on 2D1N up to USD 11,300 for Lamborajo III on 4D3N at full capacity. What genuinely rises in 2027 peak season is airfares, hotel rates and availability — and availability is what actually decides whether your dates happen.
Peak season in Labuan Bajo means three distinct windows: July and August, the Christmas to New Year period, and Indonesian long weekends and school holidays. Each behaves differently, and the constraint in each is not price but supply. There are a finite number of boats, and a date either exists or it does not.
What do Komodo boat trips cost in the 2027 peak season?
| Vessel | Duration | 1–12 guests | 13–16 | 17–20 | Each guest above 20 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lamborajo I 6 cabins · max 24 · shared bathrooms | 2D1N | 3,400 | 3,500 | 3,700 | 200 |
| 3D2N | 3,700 | 3,850 | 4,000 | 220 | |
| 4D3N | 4,100 | 4,200 | 4,400 | 250 | |
| Lamborajo II 8 cabins · max 25 · en-suite · jacuzzi | 2D1N | 5,800 | 6,300 | 6,900 | 250 |
| 3D2N | 6,550 | 7,150 | 7,750 | 300 | |
| 4D3N | 7,600 | 8,350 | 9,250 | 350 | |
| Lamborajo III 8 cabins · max 22 · en-suite · 38 m | 2D1N | 7,900 | 8,400 | 8,950 | 250 |
| 3D2N | 8,650 | 9,250 | 9,850 | 300 | |
| 4D3N | 9,650 | 10,450 | 11,300 | 350 |
Rates are per vessel, not per person, and they are the published card current 1 August 2026. Peak-date availability and any late-season adjustment should be confirmed with reservations before you commit — but the card itself does not carry a July surcharge, which is unusual in this market and worth knowing when you compare quotes. Booking mechanics are on our prices and booking page.
The 2027 peak windows, and what happens in each
| Window | What drives it | Effect on boats | Effect on flights & hotels | Book by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| July – August | Northern-hemisphere summer holidays | Popular vessels fully booked; little date flexibility | Airfares well above the normal band; hotels at their highest | 4–6 months ahead |
| Christmas – New Year | Domestic and international holidays | Tightest window of the year; also the roughest sea | Highest fares of the year on the Bali sector | 5–6 months ahead |
| Indonesian long weekends and school holidays | Domestic demand | Sudden short spikes, especially on 2D1N | Domestic fares spike sharply and briefly | 2–3 months ahead |
| April–June, September–November | Shoulder | Good availability, flexible dates | Bottom of the fare band; hotel rates negotiable | 6–10 weeks ahead |
| January – March | West monsoon | Some vessels on maintenance; cancellation risk | Cheapest flights of the year | 4–6 weeks ahead |
Where peak season actually costs you money
Flights. This is the largest peak premium in the whole trip. The Denpasar to Labuan Bajo sector runs roughly IDR 600,000–900,000 promotional and IDR 900,000–1,500,000 normal, and peak departures sit well above that. Moving your travel by two weeks in either direction routinely saves more than the entire park fee layer.
Hotels. Labuan Bajo accommodation moves sharply in July, August and the New Year window. The night before boarding is not optional — boats leave between 09:30 and 10:30 and will not wait — so budget it at peak rates rather than shoulder ones.
Park fees. These do not move with season. IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit under PP No. 36/2024, with ranger and local retribution on top. Same in January as in August.
The boat. On this card, unchanged. What changes is which boat and which date remain available.
The arithmetic that peak season does not touch
Because charter rates are per vessel, per-person cost is set by how many people you bring, not by the calendar.
| Vessel | 2D1N | 3D2N | 4D3N |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lamborajo I | ~USD 185 | ~USD 200 | ~USD 220 |
| Lamborajo II | ~USD 345 | ~USD 388 | ~USD 463 |
| Lamborajo III | ~USD 448 | ~USD 493 | ~USD 565 |
A full group in August pays the same boat figure as a full group in October. Filling the boat is therefore a bigger lever on cost than moving your dates — a point that gets lost when people assume seasonality drives everything. The comparison against per-seat shared boats is set out on our small group versus big boat cost table.
What to book first for 2027
Boat, then flights, then hotel. There are several flights a day into Labuan Bajo and only one of each vessel, so the sailing date is the scarce resource. Booking flights first and hunting for a boat afterwards is how people end up compressing an itinerary or paying for dates that do not suit them.
For July, August or the New Year window, start four to six months out. For the shoulder months, six to ten weeks is comfortable. And if you are booking December to March, ask explicitly about the weather-rescheduling policy before you pay — that is the season when it matters, and a clear answer up front is worth more than a discount.
